The Great Family Vacation of 2018

Recently, we packed the kids in the car and embarked on a lengthy road trip to visit family in Las Vegas. Many people thought we were crazy for choosing to drive, but even after all of the hours in the car, I still think it was the right choice.

Of course, I can’t count the number of times I said “I can’t reach that,” “Watch your movie,” “Please stop crying,” or “We’ll stop in a minute.” And, I don’t know how many times I wanted to jump out of the car or fly myself home (a baby and a toddler in the car for 40 total hours will do that to you).

Still, I’m so glad we took the journey. A journey that involved renting a 31-foot RV and camping in Utah and sleeping in two very quirky hotels.

To offer a glimpse into our adventure, here are some of my favorite photos:

A Unique Hotel

Check this one off the bucket list! We stayed at the Wigwam Hotel in Holbrook, Arizona. It’s a Route 66 staple, complete with classic cars and TeePees! What?! We stayed here on our way to Nevada, and it was a really neat place.

Adventures in Vegas

We’ve been to Las Vegas a handful of times now, so we’ve seen “The Strip” enough. But, I wanted to go down there at least once so we could show Russell the fountains at the Bellagio and eat at the delicious Giordano’s Pizza! Plus… IKEA!

Camping in Utah

We rented an RV from Outdoorsy.com, which is a really neat site if you’re looking for a camping vehicle! It was like Airbnb for campers. And, we had a blast at Sand Hollow State Park near Hurricane, UT. The Beach at Sand Hollow features boat and ATV rentals, ice cream, and more. We can’t recommend it enough!

The Coolest Hotel

On our way back home, we stayed in Albuquerque, NM for a night. I wanted to find somewhere unique to stay, so I booked the Nativo Lodge. It’s a hotel with rooms decorated by Native artists, and we were lucky enough to snag the family suite. It was HUGE and the boys had their own (super cool) room. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

After 10 days away, I was definitely thankful to be back home and in my own bed. But, we’re so blessed to be able to spend time making such wonderful memories.

Thanks for following along!
