Have you heard of thermography?
You can probably guess it has something to do with temperature, but did you know the study of heat can actually play a role in evaluating and tracking your overall health?
Before I was introduced to Insight Thermography of Oklahoma, I didn’t know anything about the subject. But, when I learned that thermography is a safe, non-invasive way to see what’s going on inside your body… I was immediately intrigued.
So, what is thermography?
Thermography is as safe as snapping a selfie. The painless, FDA-approved technology uses no radiation or compression, so it’s safe for everyone.
The technology works by using heat patterns to identify areas of inflammation in the body, which could suggest a number of issues—from digestive disorders to allergies and breast health.
When Erin Gerlt founded Insight Thermography of Oklahoma, her mission was to give everybody a safe, comfortable space to make decisions about their own health. So when she invited me in for a scan, how could I say no?
Turns out, thermography is painless.
On the day of my scan, I was nervous. After all, I wasn’t looking forward to stripping down in front of a stranger to have my picture taken. Fortunately, all jitters were eliminated upon entrance into Insight. Coupled with a warm greeting from my technician, Mandi, the relaxing atmosphere put me at ease.
And, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the room has a partition that separates the subject from the technician. Being in your own space gives an unexpected sense of privacy and comfort.
Insight Thermography really goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. From a soft rug under your feet to soothing music, it’s an environment you can’t help but relax in.
Yes, you’re naked. Yes, you’re looking into a camera. But, Mandi checked in frequently to make sure I was comfortable. And honestly, when you remind yourself that you’re doing this for your health and wellbeing, taking a few pictures is pretty easy.
The results are eye-opening (and to be honest, really cool).
The scan itself was relatively short—about 30 minutes. From there, they sent my images to a group of physicians who study thermography and bring a wealth of knowledge to the industry. About a week later, I had my results.
The physicians discovered some things I’d never have thought about (things I assumed were just “tired mom pains”… like recurrent headaches and upper back pain). But more importantly, some of their discoveries led to quick, easy changes that can help me live my best life.
For example, did you know dry brushing can help clear your lymphatic system? I didn’t, but you better believe I’m scrubbing now.
In short: go get yourself thermographized.
That may not be a word, but I stand by the sentiment.
A great thing about thermography is that your first scan helps identify your body’s unique baseline. So, if you return for future scans, you’ll be able to see a clearer picture of how your body is changing or responding.
If you think thermography sounds like a fit for you, don’t hesitate to visit Insight Thermography of Oklahoma. You won’t see needles, radiation, or stark white walls. Instead, you’ll find a comforting staff, relaxing atmosphere, and actionable results.
Have you had a thermography scan? I’d love to hear your experience!
