Unwrapping a new holiday tradition

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Well honestly, it looks like a Hobby Lobby exploded in my living room. We got all of our decorations out this weekend, but haven’t yet put them up. Which means, there are just piles of glitter and ribbon and red fabric all over my couches. I can’t wait to decorate the entire house. Trimming the tree and hanging stockings are two of my favorite holiday activities, and I’m so excited that my son is old enough to help this year.

At 18 months old, he doesn’t understand what’s going on, but he is definitely eager to help. So naturally, I wanted to include him in as many Christmas activities as possible this year. Thankfully, my family had the privilege of visiting a new holiday-themed adventure for the whole family.

Christmas Unwrapped is located in Bristow, Oklahoma, and is its own little holiday world. Oklahomans may remember Bristow for hosting The Polar Express last year. Now that the attraction has moved to Stillwater, people from across the state wondered what may take its place at the historic depot. So, the town got to work, and Christmas Unwrapped was born.

From the moment you enter the building (right in the heart of Bristow’s cute main street), elves happily greet you and show you around. There’s an ice skating rink and plenty of photo opportunities while you wait for the main event: a tram ride through the North Pole. With four interactive stops, the ride takes guests on a “behind-the-scenes look” at how Santa’s world operates, complete with snow and stories.

Told by Santa’s elves, the story invites children of all ages to save Christmas by finding a missing item. I thought the story was delightful, and I was really impressed with the elves’ performances. You could tell they put a lot of effort into their roles, and it was so sweet to watch them.

Of course, no Christmas activity would be complete without a visit from the jolly man himself. And, Santa was amazing! With his hearty laugh and friendly smile, Santa delivered a treat for the kids before introducing Comet… his real reindeer!

Where else can you pet a reindeer, take a picture with Santa, and see the abominable snowman all in the course of an hour? Christmas Unwrapped in Bristow has that and more.
